The Romanian Student Society of Surgery
The Romanian Student Society of Surgery (RSSS) is a student driven organization established in 2004 with the purpose of fostering surgical training for medical students through scientific events, hands-on workshops, and summer schools.
The objectives of the RSSS are to inform, train, and provide career orientation for students wishing to pursue a surgical specialty, by encouraging and facilitating access to practical, applied, and innovative learning.
Founded in Bucharest, the RSSS initiative was rapidly embraced by Romanian students nationwide. Currently there are 11 chapters of the Society, one in each Medical School in Romania.
In its 13 years of existence, the RSSS has successfully organized over 850 hands-on workshops and over 150 scientific events, such as conferences, congresses and monthly scientific meetings. Currently, there are more than 700 medical students involved in the Society, all volunteers willing to teach and help younger students in discovering the basics of surgery.
